Shape of the World is an ephemeral first-person adventure game in which the players’ goal is to explore the procedurally generated world and observe the changes taking place in it. The game was created by the independent Canadian studio Hollow Tree Games, founded by experienced developers, and its production was supported by a successful crowd-funding campaign on Kickstarter.

Story
The title does not have a traditional storyline, and the goal of the game is to create some kind of visual experience. Playing the role of the nameless wanderer, we travel through the world around us, in which we introduce various changes with our mere presence. It is done both passively – when we simply follow a designated path, and also actively – when we model the world, giving it specific colors and deciding how much vegetation should be in it.

Gameplay
The game world is randomly generated and changes constantly in the course of the game. When we return to a place we have visited, we notice, for example, that the trees grow completely differently than when we previously passed them. In addition, there are special obelisks scattered around the world, to which small ghosts lead us. Activating them drastically changes the scenery in which we find ourselves. Despite this, we are not doomed to follow the designated path, and the game even rewards you for going your own ways and the so-called “Intelligent sightseeing”.
